The Federal Skilled Trades Program
The Federal Skilled Trades Program in Canada facilitates permanent residency for skilled trade workers. Operating within the Express Entry framework, the program is designed for specific trades grouped under the National Occupational Classification, including technical trades, general trades, natural resources, processing, manufacturing, utilities, cooks, chefs, butchers, and bakers.
Key requirements include:
- Language Proficiency: Need to meet Canadian Language Benchmark standards in English or French.
- Work Experience: At least two years in the relevant skilled trade within the past five years.
- Job Offer/Certification: A valid job offer or a qualification certificate from a Canadian authority.
- Education: No specific education is mandatory, but including credentials can boost one’s Express Entry score.
- Proof of Funds: Demonstrate financial capacity for settlement in Canada.
