Parents and Grandparents Super Visa

Super Visa Brief for Parents & Grandparents

Canadian citizens and permanent residents can invite their parents and grandparents for extended stays using the Super Visa program:

  • Validity: Up to 10 years, with stays of 2 years per visit.
  • Visa-Exempt Benefit: Visa-exempt individuals can get a Letter of Introduction for a 2-year stay.
  • Processing: Around 8 weeks.
  • Requirements: Standard visa criteria, relationship proof, Canadian medical insurance, and a medical exam. The inviting family member must provide an invitation letter, prove Canadian status, and show they meet an income threshold.

Note: Super Visa holders cannot work or study in Canada. Pending permanent residency doesn’t affect eligibility.
